Jane Austen's final, unfinished novel has been adapted for TV by the renowned Andrew Davies. Town and Country Magazine says, “Masterpiece PBS is co-producing the author's final work, so you know it'll be good.” Austen completed 11 chapters of Sanditon before her death in 1817. The original text has been extended into eight episodes premiering Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 9/8 c on MASTERPIECE on PBS.
Sanditon tells the story of Tom Parker, a man obsessed with turning a sleepy seaside village into a fashionable health resort. The Parkers invite our lively but level-headed heroine, Charlotte Heywood, for an extended visit. There is matchmaking, seduction, a mishap or two, and the complication of a wealthy, mixed race heiress. Rose Williams and Theo James star.
