ABOUT US
“My idea of good company Is the company of clever, well-Informed people who have a great deal of conversation; that is what I call good company. ”  (Persuasion)
By way of introduction,

We are the Minnesota Region of The Jane Austen Society of North America, a non-profit (501(c)(3)), organization dedicated to the enjoyment and appreciation of Jane Austen and her writing.

We are a diverse, cordial group of people of all ages and stages.

Some of us have read every Jane novel backwards and forwards (mostly forwards), some haven't even read a Foreword, but have seen at least one film version of Pride and Prejudice (maybe more than one, more than once?). Whatever your familiarity with Jane, we welcome your particular addition to our lovely coterie.

all people are welcome and feel valued in its meetings, events, and community spaces. JASNA is committed to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Society.

We pledge to be:

  • Warm Our society is amiable and cordial in nature, without sinking to being over sweet. Just as roses have thorns, our moments of sharp wit only heighten the senses (and pay homage to our dear Jane).

  • Delightful Though perhaps prejudiced, we pride ourselves on being agreeably diverting in word and deed.

  • Communicative We do our utmost to keep our members apprised of goings on, and to increase their knowledge of all things J. Austen. All things she allows us to reveal, that is.

  • Clever While clever is as does, it is our belief that “nothing ventured, nothing gained” is a useful maxim for aspiring to enlightened, creative engagement with our members, who are already themselves such clever birds of a feather to have joined.
