Join us at the historic Masonic Heritage Center for an enlightening discussion led by our own Candice Hern. Unlike traditional ornamental folding fans, Brisé fans are crafted solely from intricately pierced sticks, devoid of any folded leaf of silk or paper. Candice will draw from her extensive collection to shed light on this unique fan type.

During this event, Candice will also provide historical context surrounding the style and size of these fans, as well as discuss the materials used in their construction. Attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to view firsthand her remarkable collection, delving into the craftsmanship and elegance of these exquisite accessories.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own fans – Candice will give tips on how to communicate secret messages using the Language of Fans. Following the talk, indulge in a sumptuous brunch adding a touch of luxury to this immersive exploration of Regency-era fashion and culture.

“The fan, in the hand of a female, has often been a source of mischievous delight, and many a tender word has been conveyed by its assistance.” The Mirror of Graces - 1811
