Has anyone saw the movie “Becoming Jane”. I have recently watched it again, since it’s on Netflix. I want it so much for it to end like “Pride and Prejudice” but it didn’t. But maybe it’s was meant to be. Because without that, Pride and Prejudice will probably be a whole different story
For books, my favorite P&P rewrite is ”Jane Austen in Boca” by Paula Marantz Cohen. She also wrote a modernization of Persuasion called ”Jane Austen in Scarsdale.”
For movies, there is a Bollywood movie called ”Kandukondain, Kandukondain” (“I Have Found It” in English) that is based on ”Sense and Sensibility.” It is subtitled. There is also a movie called ”Scents and Sensibility” that was DVD only (I got a copy in the Emporium at an AGM). Not great, but amusing. And there is a movie called ”Pride and Prejudice: A Latter Day Comedy” that got mixed reviews, but I found amusing.
Regarding ”The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet,” I would recommend watching the YouTube ”Lizzie Bennet Diaries” first, since, for me, the book expanded on events that occurred in the videos.
